This guzheng is crafted by the well-respected Japanese instrument maker Mitsuya Koto, known for their expertise in creating large kotos. The family has a long tradition of producing string zithers, including the famous 80-string koto for Michio Miyagi in 1929. The design for this guzheng is provided by Zheng Art of Hong Kong.
The 5WSeries "The Ultimate" model is carved from a top grade 50-year-old Japanese Aizu paulownia tree, air-dried for 5 years. The carved-out body is seamlessly connected to the bottom board. The back of the soundboard features hand-carved "W" shape sound grooves (double ayasugi), ensuring even sound distribution. The frame is adorned with a Japanese Washi design, adding richness to the tone.
This guzheng is equipped with Dunhuang professional B strings and Xuanguang Aged Rosewood (Thai Rosewood) bridges, delivering a clean and dynamic sound. The bass is exceptionally deep, while the high notes are bright and crisp with long rings. The transitions across the strings are even and solid, providing the best sound quality among guzhengs.
All the bridges and strings are fine-tuned and adjusted to ensure the best sound quality.
