This guzheng is crafted by the well-respected Japanese instrument maker Mitsuya Koto, known for their expertise in making large-size kotos. The Mitsuya family has a long tradition of crafting multi-string zithers, including the famous 80-string koto for Michio Miyagi in 1929. The guzheng is designed by Zheng Art of Hong Kong.
The Model N807 "Mystic Purple" is carved from a 40-year-old Japanese paulownia tree, air-dried for 5 years. The carved-out body seamlessly connects to the bottom board. The back of the soundboard is hand-carved with straight sound grooves, allowing the sound to spread evenly instead of being forced out from the sound holes. The sides are adorned with a Hawaiian Koa frame, adding richness to the tone.
This guzheng is equipped with Dunhuang professional B strings and Xuanguang Indian Rosewood bridges. The sound is full and rich, with an outstanding bass and bright, sweet highs that resonate beautifully. The transition across the strings is even and solid, making it one of the best guzhengs in terms of tonal balance.
